Today, we pause from our daily business responsibilities to honor and reflect on the sacrifices made by so many during the horrific attacks of 9/11. I’m sure every one of us remembers the exact moment he or she heard about the planes crashing into the two World Trade Center towers and into the Pentagon. And we will certainly never forget the searing image of those twin towers crumbling to the ground with thousands of people still inside.
Nearly 3,000 people — of all nationalities — lost their lives during the 9/11 attacks. Of those, 55 were military personnel stationed at the Pentagon, 343 were New York City fire fighters, 23 were New York City police officers, 37 were Port Authority police officers, and 15 were EMTs. All rushed into those burning buildings to save as many people as they could, with no thought to their own safety. The city, the nation, indeed the world was stunned by their loss, but also awed and inspired by their bravery, courage and self-sacrifice.
Though twelve years have passed since that day, so many still feel the devastating loss of the men, women and children who gave their lives on 9/11. They were husbands, wives, fathers, sons, daughters, and heroes. As New York City rebuilds a monument to their lives and our nation’s fortitude, we remember the tragedy of that day. But we should also remember the way we came together — across borders and demographics — to mourn, heal, and triumph over the tragedy.
On behalf of the entire team at Spireon with its leading brand GoldStar GPS, we extend our deepest gratitude to the men and women who sacrificed their lives to save others on that day — and every day. We express our deepest condolences to those who lost loved ones and friends on 9/11. And we join our nation and our world in honoring their memory and celebrating the hard-won freedoms that don’t come free.
